The Hardest Virtue

Patience is a virtue. Ever heard that? I have. And I hate it. Mostly because I struggle with it. I was praying about patience in my life this morning and started thinking about this simple statement. Patience is a virtue. We all know what patience is. It is the capacity, habit, or act of.....

Laundry in St. Louis

Hey there guys. I had a good day. Last night we stayed in another hotel. Thanks Pastor Matt. It was just what I needed. I slept till 11:30 today. Woke up feeling almost normal. I think all the sickness is almost gone. Tomorrow should be perfect. Today we got up and went to a laundrymat to wash our clothes. Blaise was in desperate need. haha. I did mine last week, but he wasn’t able to. I had enough to do one load, but he was wearing his last clean outfit. After that we went to a place called Crown Candy Kitchen. Its supposed to be a landmark old school malt shop in St. Louis. We met up with Michael Compton. He is a great guy that has been helping us along the tour. I must say, try the chocolate malt if you are ever there. Michael recommended it, and it did not disappoint. So good. The funny thing is, the guy from Man vs. Food ate there a couple months ago. That is the second place that I have eaten where he has done a show from. The first was the Big Texan. Anyways, afterwards, me and Blaise went up to the top of the St. Louis Gateway Arch. So intense. I have been up there before, but its been years. It was gross and rainy all day. Made for a miserable time. I am now in a town called Litchfield, Il. Thats right. I am on state number 9. Woo-Hoo. Well. I am off to bed. Hope you guys are enjoying the new video. Tomorrow is gonna be great.

Ignite 09 Conference

Had so much fun at the conference. Got to spend some time with Reggie Dabbs. It was fun talking ministry with someone that has done this for a long time. He filmed some stuff with me for a future video. Anyways, my allergies turned out not to be the problem. I am just sick. I feel horrible. But I have to thank Darin Poe, the DYD of Southern Missouri. He got me and Blaise our first hotel of the tour. So tonight I sleep on a real bed. I am really looking forward to it. Now I am gonna take Nyquil and go to sleep. Gnite.

Hanging with the big dogs

Had a blast today. I spoke at Evangel Temple in Springfield MO last night. It was a great service. Today I went to the Assembly of God National Office. I got to spend some time with Steve Pulis. He runs Youth Alive. I also spent some time with Jay Mooney. He is the National Youth Director. We got to talk about the tour, and how things are going. We also talked about getting Gerty, our RV, onto the floor at National Fine Arts and General Council. Should be a good time. Now I have to head towards Cape Girardeau MO for a youth convention. Its called Ignite 09. I am speaking to a bunch of teens about Speed The Light. Reggie Dabbs is gonna be speaking too. Should be very nice. I am having problems with my allergies right now. Its horrible. Last night I had to get up in the middle of the night to go to Walgreens for medicine. I feel horrible, but should start being able to breath tomorrow when the medicine kicks in.

Thanks Darin for letting me come and hang out. I really had fun with you guys. Now I am off to bed to get ready for the ride to Springfield. Should be a blast. Wow...this blog is full of very excited descriptive words. Awesome.

Christian Vegas

I had a great time at Tri-Lakes church this morning. Pastor Michael....you rock. Thanks for getting us here. We have been having fun. If you have ever been to Branson then you know what this place is like. If you haven’t then you should know it is like a christian Vegas. Tons of shows and touristy stuff. But its all clean. Last night we went to the Presley Family Theater (or something like that). It was this country show with the Presley family (no relation to Elvis). They were awesome. Got to meet Lauren, one of the teenage Presley’s. She came to my service this morning too. Fun stuff. Then tonight me and Blaise went to his cousin Kyle’s house to play PS3. The new Blitz game is intense. I won one game and lost one, so I did ok. Oh, and Kyle’s father in law is a chiropractor. He gave me my first ever adjustment. It was crazy. I never knew my back could crack that much, but it felt great. Now I am off to be to dream about Sarah. Yay.

Highest of Heights

So I am in Branson Missouri right now. Its been relaxing. Blaise has a ton of family here, so it has been fun hanging with some of his cousins and chilling out. I am speaking at their church tomorrow. Today we went up to the top of this scenic outlook. It was really fun to see it all. God really did an awesome job making this area of the country. So pretty. Anyways, love you guys a ton and thanks for the support.

Old Friends

Yesterday was awesome. Spoke at Carbondale Assembly in Tulsa last night. What an awesome group of students. Had a blast talking with Josh about bikes after service forever. Thanks for the good time. Had a blast today too. Rode just a short distance to Claremore OK. My stomach was upset all day, but I made it. Tonight I got to hang out with an old friend. Ricky Van Pay. He was one of my best friends growing up. He started a church last year. It was such fun night catching up and spending time with him. Talking about ministry and our lives. He rides bikes too. Cant wait to go for a long ride with him one day. Missed you buddy. Good to see you again.

PS. His family was sooooo awesome too. Thanks for everything Amy. It is always nice to see someone marry up. haha.

Cherokee Pride

A lot of you know that I am proud to be Irish. Some of you may not know that I am also Cherokee. My great grandma was full blooded Cherokee, and her mom was actually in the Trail of Tears. I got a picture of this sign as I was riding into Tulsa today. Thought it was great. I was thinking about the Trail of Tears today after seeing the sign. If you don’t know about that, look it up. But it is widely viewed as one of the worst parts of American history. What is crazy is, things like that are happening everyday around the world even now. People all around the world are daily dealing with things that we could never even imagine, but it is just a way of life for these people. That is why I ride. To help get the money to our missionaries that put themselves into these cultures. They are knowingly and willingly taking their families into some of the most unthinkable places and situations you could imagine. All to reach out and do what Jesus asked us. Since we just went through Easter it has been on my mind. I mean, Jesus died and rose again. We all know that. But He came back to visit the disciples before going to heaven to tell us the ONE thing He wants us to do. To go into all the earth and tell the hurting about Him. And that is what Speed The Light helps us do. So, lets help them. Ok, now I am off the soapbox.

PS. my riding tan is getting pretty awesome. My hands are ridiculously white from my gloves. haha.

New T-Shirts

I have been hanging out in Howard Kansas. We had a great service here yesterday for Easter. It was raining all day yesterday, and off and on all day today. So I stayed here and caught up on some work. Posted a new video. Made phone calls. Sent some emails. Its just been a great day. We got a new order of t-shirts in Saturday. I try and get different colors. We have had brown with orange print, and black with yellow print so far. This new order is black with grey print, and light blue with dark blue print. Fun stuff. If you want to order one, just let me know. Heading out towards Tulsa, OK tomorrow morning. Hope it gets warmer. Lates.

We didn't start the fire

Today was nice. The wind wasn’t that bad, but it was chilly out. Passed by a field that was fully on fire or burnt. I think it was a control burn, but it was crazy looking. Looked a lot like the old video of Desert Storm when the oil fields were burning. If you have no idea what I am talking about....google it. I am super tired. Tomorrow I head on into Howard Kansas for our Easter service on Sunday. Second night in a row we have stayed in a Walmart parking lot. The negative is loud trucks and bright street lights. The positive.....pooper is open 24 hours a day. Gotta love the road. Play my outro.

Failure never tasted so good

Yesterday I attempted something hard. Eating a 72 oz steak. I succeeded. Then I had to eat a shrimp cocktail. Did that. Had to eat a salad. Done. Had to eat a potato. Ditto. Last but not least, I had to eat a roll. If I finished all of this in an hour or less, its free. If not it cost me $72 buckaroo’s. Well, with two bites to go in the roll. Almost done. I had a gag reflex. Not even intentional. Nothing to stop it. All I spit up was the last bite of the roll. But that was enough to disqualify me. I will be putting up the video of it soon. Thanks for everyone that watched it live on the internet and cheered me on. I am still full. Haha. If you would like to subsidize the steak challenge, visit our donate section. *wink*

Literal signs....Funny signs

Today was a nice ride. There was not much wind. At least a lot less than the last couple days. I passed this sign and it cracked me up. A sign in a small town doesn’t have names I guess.....just descriptions. Today was nice though. Right at 90 miles. Made it into Fritch Texas, and had an awesome service tonight. It is just amazing to see students getting excited about Speed The Light, and making a difference in the world. Tomorrow should be a blast. First we are going to a place called the big texan. They have a 72 ounce steak. If you eat it and all the sides in under an hour its free. You eat it up on a stage in the restaurant. I am gonna give it a shot. Then we head toward Kansas. I am finally turning to go with the wind instead of against it. Which is a good thing since tomorrow is supposed to be insane wind 45-50 mph, with gusts up to 60. I should be flying. Go watch the new video. Peace out punk.

Girl you know its true

Seeing as I was born in Texas, I thought this sign was fitting. Haha. Actually Blaise saw the sign first and thought it was a good idea. So it has now been verified by an outside source. Haha. Anyways, we spent the night at a church in Quanah Texas. We had a good night. Ate some Frito pie and watched old episodes of ER on dvd. All in all....a great evening. Yesterday was HORRIBLE wind. 35 to 40 mph right in my face constantly all day. Today is supposed to be worse. Not looking forward to it. Yay. Gotta hit the road now.

St. Patrick....haha

Yesterday was awesome. We didn’t have a service when we woke up. Went to Evangel Temple in Wichita Falls TX just to go to service. Ended up talking with Pastor Kyle and he asked me to speak at their service last night. Had a blast hangin out with the youth pastor Matt and his wife Kara (sp?). The service went great too. Afterwards I got to go out to eat with Matt and bunch of the youth leaders. Afterwards I went to a guy named Patrick’s house. He works on bikes a ton. It was so awesome. We tuned up my Jamis bike. It needed new brake cables, and my shifters had to be cleaned, and we put new bar tape on too. Actually, Patrick did all of this. I watched. I have had to learn how to do a lot of the repairs on my own bikes. It was great watching a guy who did it for a living go to town. I learned a lot. He even gave me a bunch of tools. So nice. Thanks Patrick. The bike rides so nice now. Love ya bro. Now back to the road....Amarillo, here I come.

Long time......sorry

It has been a LLLLLLLOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGG time since I blogged. Sorry. This past week has been great. I am currently in Wichita Falls Texas. I guess I will just go through the last few days and let you know what has been going on. First of all, last week were having a hard time financially, and you guys helped out in an awesome way. We are not perfect in the money area yet, but the help some of you sent has made us a lot better than we were. I have spoke twice in the last week. First was at Harvest A/G in Fort Worth. It was a great church. They were having a friend day. Blaise’s uncle Allen Asbury sang and I got to talk. They had an awesome BBQ lunch too. Second was at my buddy Jeremy Mount’s church in Dallas. It was great seeing Jer, and Amy. I also got to hang out with their kids Chloe and Ethan. So cute. I am their “crazy uncle Johnny”. C5 youth at Calvary. You guys are awesome. Tagged up Gerty really well. But the best part for me was having my girlfriend Sarah come and visit me for a few days. She got to go to the service with me. I also got to introduce her to some old friends. Really had such a great time seeing my girl. I miss her all the time, so it was so great to spend a few days with her. I also got to see a bunch of old friends. Just a great week. I love Dallas. I was born there so it is like going home. I wanted to see some others, but time just didn’t let me. After that I headed back toward Blaise’s aunt and uncles house for a day. It was nice. Today I headed up to Wichita Falls. I might have a service tomorrow, but I doubt it at this point. So that means our next service is in Amarillo on Wednesday. Should be a blast. Anyways, talk to you soon.
