The Hardest Virtue

Patience is a virtue. Ever heard that? I have. And I hate it. Mostly because I struggle with it. I was praying about patience in my life this morning and started thinking about this simple statement. Patience is a virtue. We all know what patience is. It is the capacity, habit, or act of.....

Bama be crazy

I spent the last week in Alabama. It was awesome. I love that state. Such a good time speaking to a bunch of students. I got to speak at youth convention in Birmingham. It was pretty cool watching a couple thousand students signing the bus. It was like a constant flow of people all afternoon. We were gonna have people sign stickers this year and stick em on the bus. But it didn't work out that way. So this past week we started letting them sign the bus again like they did on Gerty last year. It is awesome how quickly it fills up with incredible words. Students that say they are gonna raise $10,000 for Speed The Light, and how they are gonna reach out to their parents, or friends. Really cool stuff. I am in Midland Georgia right now. I am speaking here tomorrow night. Then I get to head home for a few days off. Sarah and I are buying a house and I have to be back there for an inspection. Should be cool. Tonight I get to have dinner with some awesome friends, Tim, Melissa, and Owen Zeager. It is so cool to hang out with friends I have known forever.  I was in their wedding a few years ago, now they are expecting their second child. I really love my life. I get to speak to teens about making a difference, am marrying an INCREDIBLE WOMAN, and get to hang out with friends around the country. Now I will go eat. Talk to you soon.

Audacity

This tour has been going so great. We are in Mississippi right now. First things first. Yesterday was the first day of spring, and today it snowed here in Mississippi. That is horrible. Haha. But let me tell you something. Our services have been so awesome. I have spoken all over Texas, Louisiana, and now Mississippi. This tour is starting to settle out now and find its rhythm. I have seen incredible things. Just in the past 3 weeks our services have been a couple thousand people. We have seen students getting excited about changing the world. I got to talk with an eleventh grader in Louisiana named Jonathan (good name). He gave over $1000 to missions and Speed The Light this past year. That is so awesome to see a student get excited about making a difference. But the coolest part is what he told me. He said he knew that he hadn't done everything he could have. I absolutely love seeing a student that does so much, but knows he can do more. That is audacity.

Here is the deal. If you want to change the world....if you want to Make Your Mark on society you have to get a little audacious. Or maybe a lot audacious. Its a big part of what I am talking about on this tour. To get uncomfortable, to grow a little audacity. That is what it is going to take to make this world a better place. I am super excited to see how the rest of the tour turns out. Tomorrow I am going to visit the site of the Battle of Vicksburg. I have been reading up on it, and am humbled to go there and live a few minutes in history. I hope that one day, years from now, someone talks about what you did in history. Let them talk about your audacity.

Starting over

So this week I started the second national Bike For The Light tour. It is called Make Your Mark. Left Tuesday from Lakeland Florida. I must say that our bus Gracey is awesome. So much more space and more comfy. Has about the same top speed that Gerty had. I will say that I don't enjoy paying for the gas. haha. So we made it to Mississippi before I had to take a break for the night. Then on Wednesday it got interesting.

I had to speak in Dallas at C5 youth at Calvary with my buddy, Pastor Jeremy Mount, on Wednesday night. So we hit the road from Mississippi at about 7 am. We seemed to hit every car wreck and detour possible. About 10 am the speedometer stopped working, so I had no clue how fast we were going (not a big deal cause its impossible to speed in Gracey). Then the fuel gauge stopped working. Not a good thing. Ended up running super late. We were pushing it just to make it to the service that night before it started at 7 pm. Then all of a sudden......no gas. There was supposed to be a gas station, but it had gone out of business. But I must say, I am love my home state of Texas. We were 6 miles away from the nearest station, so I started hitchhiking down the road. Got picked up within 30 seconds. Dropped off at the station. Got gas, and started hitchhiking back. Was picked up within a couple minutes. That guy drove me back, waited to see if that was enough gas to start up the bus. It wasn't, so he drove me to the station again and back. That guy drove me like 20+ miles. What a God-send. Ended up pulling into the C5 parking lot at 7:38 and was on stage preaching at 7:52. But it was an incredible night.

Then Friday night I was in Whitehouse Texas. Its the home town of a friend of mine named Mike Durbin. He is an incredible teen that walked 500 miles to raise $10,000 for Speed The Light last year. He has a site at www.iwillwalk.org. Go check it out. Had an incredible time with those guys there. Then today I got to preach at my uncle Monty Kelley's church in Needville Texas just outside of Houston.

All in all it has been a great first few days. Tonight I video skype called Sarah. Was so great seeing her face. Now I am in my Uncle Wayne and Aunt Becky's house. They are awesome people that have supported my ministry is such huge ways. I truly am blessed beyond measure. I love you all so much. A new video is going up tomorrow.
